House Bill 18-1107: Electric Vehicle Charging Systems in New Residences

House Bill 18-1107 has been introduced that, if passed, will require builders of both new single-family homes and owner-occupied condominium units to offer one of the following:

(a) An electric vehicle charging system;

(b) Upgrades of wiring planned by the builder to accommodate future installation of such a system; or

(c) A chase or conduit, or both, constructed to allow ease of future installation of the necessary wiring for such a system.

While the proposed Bill only applies to newly constructed homes/units, it is consistent with the recent trend of permitting energy efficiency devices and measures in communities.
